David ST-ONGE (Canada) - engineering collaborator, member of NXI Gestatio Design Lab at UQAM and HexagramCIAM (Montreal, Canada)

Over the past two decades, an increasing number of artists have been collaborating with engineers and scientists to complete their artwork. This paper focuses on three different models of collaboration between engineers, scientists and artists in the area of robotics and focuses on three projects that recently occurred in Quebec, Canada: The Scribes, The Castelet and [VOILES|SAILS]. The different aspects of each collaboration model are summarized in order to help the stakeholders of future works to choose the model best suited to their needs.

The lecturer, David St-Onge, was close to the development of the first two works and is professionaly involved in the last one since its beginning. Taught these projects have been chosen for their relevant contributions to the robotic art field and some specificity of their creation process, others projects, that M. St-Onge has made with artists in the last 7 years of his career, will be discuss to help the understanding of such collaboration, mainly in: Robotic, Theater and bioArt.
